The “Just Enough” Camera Sling | Moment Fast & Light 1.5L Review

A soon-to-be cult-classic sling is taking over the trails. The Take 1.5L disappears on your chest, stays organized inside, and even holds a 35mm film camera.

7.4MomentScore

When it comes to small everyday carry bags, the Moment Fast and Light 1.5L Sling sits in that interesting middle ground between ultra-minimal and surprisingly capable. It’s designed to hold just what you need — nothing more, nothing less — and it does that well. After spending some time with the sample version, I’ve found that while it’s not perfect, it’s a thoughtfully made sling that fits comfortably into Moment’s Fast & Light Collection ethos: clean design, streamlined carry, and no unnecessary fluff.

It’s a solid, reliable sling that I genuinely enjoy using, but it’s not flawless. Some small tweaks — particularly with organization and strap details — could easily push it higher. Still, for what it is, the 1.5L Sling gets a lot right.

Athletic-Like Fit

The size is spot on. Worn crossbody, it basically disappears, but there’s still room for your essentials without feeling crammed. That balance is harder than it sounds—most tiny slings either tap out after a phone and wallet, or feel weirdly big for light carry. This 1.5L hits the middle perfectly and feels intentional.

Organization is solid for something this small. It’s not a black hole; there are real pockets and structure, so you can grab what you need without fishing around. The strap is simple and does its job: smooth adjust, comfy across the chest, and it stays put when you’re walking or biking. It’s not padded to oblivion or overly technical, and it doesn’t need to be. The straightforward hardware actually helps keep the whole thing light and minimal.

Front Mesh Pocket

Up front there’s a stretchy mesh pocket, and it’s quickly become a favorite. It stays low-profile when empty, then expands for bulkier stuff and snaps back flat. I mostly use it for sunglasses — jsutslide them in, they’re secure, and I don’t have to crack the main zip. It’s the kind of small detail that makes daily carry easier, and it’s just as handy for a charging cable, lip balm, or a transit card you want within easy reach.

Main Compartment

Here’s where I have a little more to say. The sample I tested had two main sections, and I’m told the final will go to one. I actually preferred the two. It kept small EDC stuff separate from bulkier items, and I could open just one side for a quick grab without dumping the whole bag open.

That said, the current layout still works. You get three stretch mesh pockets for the little things — AirPods, lip balm, a spare battery — and a padded slip that’s great for your phone. The padding isn’t thick, but it keeps the screen from rubbing against keys or cables. There’s also a key leash, which I appreciate, but it’s a bit short; a couple extra inches would make unlocking a door without unclipping much easier.

The zippers are excellent. The pulls are big and easy to catch with one hand, which sounds minor until you’re moving fast and want to get in and out without thinking.

Back Zip Pocket

Flip the bag over and there’s a hidden zip pocket; easily one of the smartest features here. It’s low-profile and sits flat against your body, so it’s great for cash, a passport, or travel docs you don’t want on display. And it’s a real zip pocket, not just a sleeve, so nothing sneaks out. In a crowd or at the airport, you can stash the important stuff back there, forget about it, and get on with your day.

Strap & Hardware

The strap setup is worth a shout. There’s a push-release buckle on one side, so taking the sling on and off is super easy. It feels solid and clicks smoothly, it's one of those little conveniences you don’t know you need until you have it.

There’s also an optional stabilizer strap to keep the bag planted when you’re biking or moving fast. You might not use it every day, but it’s great to have when you want a tighter fit while on a bike or scaling a kill. The main strap itself is simple and low-bulk, which fits the Fast & Light vibe.

Interior & Build Details

The salmon pink lining is a small detail that pays off big. It brightens the inside so you can spot tiny items right away, instead of losing them in a dark pit. Materials feel tough yet light, and the bag holds its shape even when it isn’t packed out, which keeps it looking tidy without being stiff. And those large zipper pulls are simple, grippy, and easy to snag with one hand.

Straps and Carry System

The carry feels straight out of a running or hiking pack. Wide shoulder straps spread the load and stay comfy even when the bag is packed, and each one does real work: one has a stretchy mesh pocket that fits a phone, the other a small zip pocket for lip balm, an energy bar, or spare batteries. The magnetic sternum strap clicks together without a fuss and keeps everything stable.

Load lifter straps at the top pull the weight in closer, which helps the bag ride better on longer walks. They work well, though the tails run a bit long and tend to dangle. Shorter webbing or a neater way to manage the extra length would tidy things up.

Some Criticisms

I’ve really liked using this sling, but a couple things bug me. The key leash is the big one — it’s just a bit too short. Add a couple inches and it’d be way more practical for unlocking a door without unclipping.

I’m also a little bummed the final version moves to a single main compartment; the two-section layout kept things tidier and made quick grabs easier.

Beyond that, no real complaints: the strap is simple and comfortable, the build feels solid, and the overall functionality is thoughtfully done.

Final Thoughts

The Moment Fast & Light 1.5L Sling does exactly what it promises: a small, lightweight everyday bag that stays out of your way. It gives you just enough organization for the basics — phone, wallet, keys, AirPods, sunglasses — without the bulk of a bigger sling.

It isn’t flashy, and that’s the point. It’s understated, reliable, and easy to live with. For quick errands, light travel days, or short adventures, it’s an easy grab-and-go choice.
