When Moment first announced the Fast & Light Collection, I was immediately curious — this lineup promised gear designed for creators who move fast and pack light, but still want something functional enough to carry real equipment. After spending some time testing out the Fast & Light Vest, I can confidently say this piece hits that sweet spot between technical utility and comfort. It’s the kind of gear that feels minimal when you’re wearing it, yet manages to carry an impressive amount of essentials.

This is a sample version, so there may still be small tweaks before the final release, but even in its current form, this vest is one of the most thoughtfully designed pieces of creator apparel I’ve tried.

Fit & Comfort

Let’s start with the fit — because that’s what stood out first.

The vest has a body-hugging silhouette that feels secure and balanced, even when loaded with gear. It’s lightweight and surprisingly breathable, thanks to the mix of mesh and stretch fabrics throughout. I found it extremely comfortable to wear for hours at a time, whether I was biking, hiking, or shooting handheld video. It moves with you — not against you — and that makes a huge difference when you’re constantly adjusting your stance or running around to get the shot.

The stretch side panels are one of my favorite design elements. They adapt naturally to your movements and help keep the vest tight to your body without feeling restrictive. Combined with the dual stretch sternum straps, the weight distribution feels even and snug, so there’s none of that bouncing or shifting that you get with looser-fitting vests or chest rigs.

I also appreciate that Moment offers two sizes — S/M and L/XL. I’m 5’8” and 190 lbs, and the S/M fits me perfectly. It’s rare to find a fit that feels both tailored and forgiving, but this one nails it. The adjustability built into the straps and stretch zones means you can fine-tune the feel based on what you’re carrying or how much layering you’re wearing underneath.

Simply put: it’s one of the most comfortable technical vests I’ve worn. You forget you’re wearing it — which, in my book, is the highest compliment you can give to a piece of gear like this.

Back Storage

Now let’s talk about the back — because this is where the vest really surprises you.

There’s an extremely large zippered back pocket that spans almost the entire panel. It’s big enough to fit up to a 14-inch laptop or a hydration bladder, which is impressive for something this streamlined. Inside, there’s a strap to secure a hydration bladder, so it won’t flop around as you move.

Moment even thought through the details here; there’s a stretch mesh pocket inside that’s perfect for holding a power bank, and you can route either your charging cable or hydration tube through the strap and feed it toward the front. It’s small touches like this that show how well this vest has been designed for both creators and adventurers — whether you’re shooting in the city or hiking to a lookout, it just works.

Below that main pocket, there’s another large mesh stretch stash pocket on the lower back. This one is ideal for bulkier items like a jacket or gloves, and it’s easily one of the most useful design elements. What I love most is that it has openings on both sides, so you can grab your gear without taking the vest off. That simple accessibility feature changes how you use it in the field — no more awkward twisting or unzipping everything to reach for a windbreaker or towel.

It’s clear Moment put a lot of thought into the flow and access of the storage layout. You can tell this was designed by people who actually use their gear outside.

Side Pockets

On each side, you’ll find large stretch pockets that are deep and secure. These are big enough to hold something like a Fujifilm X100VI or a compact camera, which is perfect for creators who like to keep their setup lightweight.

Even if you’re not carrying a camera, these side pockets are great for things like energy bars, gloves, or any other accessory.. Because they stretch, they adapt to whatever you need — and they’re easy to reach on the move.

I’ve tried similar vests where side pockets feel like an afterthought, but here, they’re perfectly placed and sized for real-world use.

Front Storage & Functionality

Moving to the front, this is where you interact with the vest most — and Moment really got the organization right.

At the top, there’s a horizontal strap that’s perfect for hanging sunglasses, small pouches, or even a clip-on mic receiver. It’s a simple touch but adds a ton of versatility if you like to customize your setup.

Below that is a large zippered pocket that has a key leash and internal stash pockets for organization. This pocket is perfect for your phone, wallet, or any smaller accessories you want to keep secure. It’s easy to access, even with one hand, and the zipper feels durable.

Then there are two large front stretch mesh stash pockets — ideal for snacks, batteries, lens caps, or quick-access items. These are the kinds of pockets you’ll end up using constantly. They’re deep, flexible, and easy to get into without breaking stride.

Finally, there’s a spot for your water pouch with a bungee. It’s positioned well, so it doesn’t swing around when you’re moving, and it’s easy to grab mid-hike or mid-ride.

Everything feels purposeful and balanced. You can load this vest up with quite a bit of gear and still feel mobile — that’s the magic of the design.

Criticisms & Suggestions

No piece of gear is perfect, and while this vest comes very close, there are a few areas I’d love to see refined before the official release.

First, the sternum strap system. Right now, it uses a kind of hook-style connector, which works, but I personally find it a bit fiddly. When you’re in a hurry or wearing gloves, it’s not as quick or intuitive as a small snap buckle design would be. A more traditional buckle would make connecting and disconnecting faster — especially in active situations.

Second, inside the front zippered pocket with the key leash, I wish the key leash was longer. It’s just a bit too short to comfortably reach your keys without partially pulling them out. A few extra inches would make a big difference in usability.

Lastly, within that same pocket, there’s currently a single mesh stretch stash pocket. It’s useful, but I think adding a second one below it would make organization even better. That way, you could separate smaller items — like SD cards, adapters, or cables — instead of having them all stacked together.

These are minor critiques, but they stand out mostly because the rest of the vest feels so dialed in.

Final Thoughts

The Moment Fast & Light Vest lives up to its name — it’s fast, light, and surprisingly capable. It bridges the gap between a camera bag and a piece of performance apparel. For creators who shoot on the go, it offers just enough carrying capacity to handle your essentials without weighing you down.

Whether you’re biking around the city, hiking a trail, or filming a run-and-gun project, this vest gives you mobility and organization that a backpack just can’t match. The comfort, the breathability, and the clever pocket layout make it genuinely enjoyable to wear.

If Moment tightens up a few of those small details — especially the sternum straps — this could easily become a staple piece for creators and adventurers alike.

It’s not just a “camera vest.” It’s a wearable system for movement and creativity — and that’s exactly what the Fast & Light line is all about.
