Josh S. Rose is a documentarian, photographer & filmmaker. Rose employs a human-approach to creation that brings documentary closer to the creative process, through presence, empathy and emotion. Rose studied with Mary Ellen-Mark and is inspired by the Time-Life and Magnum photographers. Assignments have taken Rose around the world with Yoshiki, the most famous rock musician to ever come out of Japan, inside with Major League Baseball's, Washington Nationals, inside tents on Skid Row and across the United States on a long-term project to document sentiments around work in America. Rose was artist-in-residence at CalArts in 2019 and is the current artist-in-residence with the LA Dance Project. Rose is a Leica Akademie instructor and winner of the Spider Awards Top Honors in Fine Art Black & White Photography. Rose is a 4th generation Los Angeleno.
