What’s in the Box?

Straight out of the box, you’ll find:

Now, right away you might notice there’s no rain fly, but honestly, you probably won’t need one because the materials are weather-resistant and tough as nails. If you really wanted, I’m sure you could grab a cheap dimension-equivalent alternative from Amazon.

The Layout

The McKinnon Camera Pack 35L is designed for total flexibility. Inside, the main camera compartment is fully customizable using the included folding dividers, so you can create the exact layout you need for your camera body, lenses, drone, mic, and accessories.

It opens clamshell-style from the back for full access and includes a side-access door for quickly grabbing your camera mid-shoot. A separate clothing compartment holds up to four days of clothes, keeping your gear and wardrobe organized and apart.

If you need even more room, the bag expands from 35 to 42 liters with a single zip. There's also a dedicated laptop sleeve that fits up to a 16-inch MacBook Pro and an internal tablet sleeve for on-the-fly editing.

Hidden pockets on the sides carry a tripod or water bottle, while an RFID-safe pocket keeps essentials like your passport and wallet secure. The suspension system includes an aluminum frame, load-lifter straps, and a molded back panel that helps distribute weight and stay comfortable, even with a full load.

Every detail is made to support photographers, filmmakers, and creators and man… you can feel it.

How to Pack It Like a Pro

The McKinnon 35L is great for super long travel hauls or shoot days where you need gear and clothes in one bag.

In the main compartment, use the folding dividers to organize your camera body, a few lenses, filters, a mic, and a drone. Everything fits snug and stays protected.

Up top, the clothing section handles three days’ worth of clothes, a jacket, and toiletries. The laptop sleeve holds a 16-inch MacBook Pro and an iPad, ideal for editing on the go.

Use the side pocket for either a compact tripod or a water bottle, depending on the day. Keep your passport, wallet, and an AirTag tucked into the RFID-safe pocket for peace of mind while traveling.

This layout keeps everything streamlined and carry-on ready, without sacrificing what you need to shoot and move efficiently.

My Travel Tips

After plenty of miles with this bag, a few tricks make a big difference. Use the waist straps when the bag’s fully packed to ease the load on your shoulders. The side-access door is great for fast lens swaps or grabbing your camera without opening the whole pack.

If you’re traveling light, remove the camera cube and use the bag as a durable daypack. Keep the expansion zipped until you actually need more space to maintain a sleek profile and better weight balance.

Small tweaks like these help the McKinnon pack work even harder on the road.
