Universal Gimbal Counterweight

Good counterweight, but the design could have been a little different. It fell off when seemingly attached firmly, but it was most likely user error. It did it's job countering the weight when used, but I didn't end up using it often.

What's more to say. I got this one pleasantly discounted and actually use it. (And not only for its intended use. ) My only regret is I did not get more of them while available.

Pro:
1. Small design, but effective counter balance.
2. Good fit for my gimbal.

Con:
1. The Velcro strap is not secure. Easily came off. It needs to be updated with different system.
2. Only fits moment weight. Does not fit the standard 1/4 thread. Too small.

Son hopefully will like it- Christmas present

This is all you need if you already have a gimbal that can’t support the weight of the lenses.

The concept is good which is why I purchased it but it keeps slipping along the gimbal arm. I am still figuring out how to stop it from slipping.

This adds the perfect weight to hold my mic, light, and any other accessories I might attach to my gimbal. I’ve been looking for a good and reasonably priced counterweight. This one is perfect.

I needed to counterbalance an anamorphic lens with an adaptor ring and 67mm VND filter on a Zhiyun Smooth 4. Works perfect.

Although others here have had good results fitting this counterweight on their Zhiyun Smooth 5, I found that the Velcro strap wasn't long enough to engage the hook and loop enough to fit properly and not fall off. Perhaps I have a faulty counterweight. I will look for other solutions.

I initially purchased this to use with the DJI OM5. I use an iPhone 13 ProMax and also purchased a couple lenses and the 67mm filter adapter. That setup is way too heavy for the OM5, it fails instantly. So the counterweight only makes things worse. So I bought the Zhiyun Smooth 5 and what a difference. Adding the 60g weight helps balancing my chunky setup and the movement is like butter.

This counterweight fits perfectly on the Smooth 5, and the weight is the exact weight I needed to counter balance my phone with the 18mm Moment Lens, filter adapter, and Freewell Magnetic VND. Great product. And it looks great.

A simple and elegant solution to compensate for the added weight of Moment lens on a gimbal. I've used this with a Zhiyun Smooth 4 + Moment Anamorphic and iPhone 11 Pro. Quickly resolved the weight distribution problem. As the counterweights have a threaded rod connecting them to the center weight - it would be nice if Moment could offer additional 30gm weights (separately), so that one could increases the weight total to more than 120 gm.

This product does what it's supposed to do, and it does it well! I have heavier lens I like to use on my phone with my gimbal, and this counterweight is heavy enough to balance it perfectly without even using all of the weight available. I was concerned it would be almost too heavy, but with it is fantastic and versatile with the detachable weights. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

This counterweight fits perfectly on my Zhiyun Smooth 4 and comes with enough weight to balance my 18mm lens with the 67mm filter adapter and ND filters attached. Highly recommend.

Needed this counterweight for my Zhiyun Smooth 4 and my iPhone 12. It does what it does: even with the heavier 18mm Moment lens is all very stable. I only needed the 60 grams for that.

I was not sure how heavy my iPhone 11 pro max would be, as I have this big protective casing. I ended up taking it all off, putting just the naked phone in, and NOT needed the couterweight, so I chucked it.

This is by no means a negative review - it's a great product and probably the most versatile counterweight for phone gimbals on the market. The down side is the (understandable) size of the additional weights - if only a little smaller, the counterweight could sit on the inside bend of a Zhyiun Smooth 4 (and probably other gimbals too), meaning I could lock/close the gimbal and not have to remove the cw for vertical shooting, and storage in the poly box it comes in. No complaints about quality, this is the CW to buy.

Used on a Zhyyun Crane M2

It works but it has one little flaw: the velcro strap. The way it's designed, it stands in the way a little because it's short and only the end of the strap has the hooks.

Because it's short and thick, it doesn't hold tight and enough and tends to come loose a little, ending in the way of the gimbal's arm.

Only 1/3 of the velcro part stays attached but it's firm enough that the weight doesn't move so I'll probably just cut the excess (the end of the strap that doesn't stay flat or sticked).

Very useful. iPhone 12Pro Max needs the counterweight so as to get full functionality from both the phone and gimbal.

Adding this to my phone gimbal has really assisted nicely in smoother video footage!

The counter weights work well. My only suggestion would be to have the additional weights in smaller increments - four 15g weights instead of two 30g weights.

Only wished it didn't block the arm of my Zhiyun Smooth 4 from going into standby mode.

Did what it was supposed to. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Does it’s job. Looks nice and sleek on the gimbal.

I’m new to shooting video, coming from a (D)SLR background, and have little experience with gimbals and the intricacies that accompany their use. I purchased a Moza Mini Mi, recommended because it is compatible with external counterweight systems, and found the attachment spot easily by the counterweight’s shape. I wasn’t sure how much weight I needed to balance out so I set up my rig:

Moment phone case (black and canvas)
Moment Anamorphic lens
Moment 62mm filter mount
Bower 62mm variable neutral density filter (8 stops)

Afterwards, I added a segment (30g) of the counterweight system at a time until the phone floated. Turns out, I only needed the main piece.

My only concern is the length of the strap and the velcro closure. While the length of the strap fits very well on my gimbal, I’m not sure about other models. Any longer though, it could get in the way of the machine working properly. As for the closure itself, I’d prefer a snap or a buckle to hook and loop. I’ve never been a fan of hook and loop fasteners because they never seem to last very long but I can see that flexibility and saving weight may have been a priority in the design. That being said, the build quality feels robust and I appreciate the drawstring storage bag.

Overall, I’m happy with the system and it’s price point. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone new to the game or looking for something tasteful and solid.

The velcro little to short får my Benro Phoneographer. But it functions - just has to be observative!
