The cage is good but the handles that come with it kind of sucks I be trying to tighten the up and they still be loose spinning my cage around.

Absolutely love this one. It’s robust, feels like something made with clear consideration. Gonna use it for yeaaaaars I can just tell already.

The MagSafe connection is disappointingly weak—my pop socket provides double the strength. Additionally, the handles can only be attached in a single fixed position, limiting versatility.

Good design and quality of the product. I noticed a few downsides - the magnet is not strong enough. If you accidentally hook the phone on the side, it falls. Also, one cutout for the wires is not enough. But I saw that in the new model of the cage these issues have already been corrected. I bought this product before Black Friday for $ 100. Then I saw the price of $ 60. And this price seems fair to me for such a product.

Honestly, all it's missing is the ability to hold an external hard drive. It is STURDY!

The design is simple and functional. The cage is sturdy without being too heavy. Easy to hold and film with. It also stands on it own even with a lens attached. Super quick and easy to mount your phone. The phone has not came loose running with the cage. No more getting your finger in the shot with this thing. Have not used this with a mic or light attached. There is a couple different things that make filming on your phone easier. This is one of them

Great product but way too expensive for this quality. The frame is not assembled straight and is crooked. For this price I find it very disappointing but ok that's how it is.

I was initially hesitant to purchase the Moment Filmmaker Cage as most of the promotional photos depict the camera not square within the cage itself. This is explicitly referenced in the promotional video for ‘initial set-up’. However, I was VERY pleased to see a different version of the MAGSAFE mount which includes a secondary arm to prevent rotation (this is especially important when adding weight in the form of a Moment lens). Strangely, this feature is not featured or described anywhere on the product page but is integral to its function and performance. Unfortunately this ‘arm’ uses a square-taper interface with the primary MAGSAFE mount which is prone to significant movement unless tightened excessively. Furthermore, there seems to be an issue with the internal magnets orientations as my iPhone 15 Pro will not align correctly on it. As a benefit of the poor square-taper interface, the solution is to askew the arm for the phone to sit level. Overall, it’s just not the same attention to detail I have come to expect from Moment products.

The second consideration (read ‘problem’) is the mounting interface. Yes — Moment markets this as a cage for handheld filmmaking, but the plethora of 1/4-20 mounts enable a tripod mount to be affixed to the bottom. The first issue is where you would attach a tripod mount (in the centre of the cage) is unnecessarily milled-out, so you need to mount it to one side or the other. Secondly, this ‘base’ is ALMOST the same dimensions as the Peak Design tripod plate — a product which Moment sells and has helped contribute to its popularity. …almost. Even if the dimensions were patented, that would mean Moment just couldn’t market its compatibility, but there’s still no reason Moment couldn’t have matched the dimensions to eliminate the need for the tripod plate. So a missed opportunity for sure.

My film-maker cage magnet is very pinpointed where it works. Any sudden movements too quick just releases my phone which has the moment lenses on and it just gets scratched on this metal.

Seriously great bit of kit - you’ll wonder how you managed without once you start using it. Great for both still & video work, especially with all the fixing points. Been using it for stop-frame animation with students, and out in the field shooting stills with cold hands!! Top work !

I love it! Lot's of mounting options for lights, mics, etc. Lightweight. Very stable magnet. Accepted the Moment iPhone 14 case like a glove.

This cage is SO MUCH FUN!!! First, I really appreciate the added stability I gained using the cage - much less shakiness. I thought it was primarily for video, but was delightfully surprised at how much easier it was to capture good images with my Moment Macro with my iPhone 'cage' held. Just so much steadier. Am looking forward to learning more about how to use it with a mic . . . .

Along with the cage, I purchased an iPhone case and filter mount. Even including shipping and tax, it was cheaper than the price from the Japanese distributor. Japanese distributors only carry some of Moment's products. The stock situation is also terrible. Japan's iPhone market share is 70%. It's a big market. I would like to be allowed to run an agency myself.

I’ve tried a variety of setups for mobile filmmaking and photography and this cage is a BEAST! Now, I know there are some other brands that make similar cages—I own one of them! Trust me: get this one from Moment. From the second you hold it, you know this thing oozes quality. It’s somehow solid and lightweight. It has Moment’s top-notch magnets and can be customized to be almost anything you can imagine with more threaded holes than anything else I’ve come across! I’ve used it in both portrait and landscape, with and without a tripod and it’s held up. I’m so glad I got this. And, yes: it even fits an iPhone 15 Pro Max with an OtterBox Defender XT (MagSafe) Case so…it will fit your phone too!

Easy to use!

Well built, quick to add iPhone, and many options to attach accessories. One disappointment is the 67 mm filter attachment is not compatible with the cage.

With respect to the product, mine was defective and I think it is due to a questionable design choice. The MagSafe Mounting arm was lose and allowed the whole thing to move swivel right and left. "I just paid 120 dollars for this and now I get to fix it" really isn't the experience I was going for when I got it out of the box. So I got a screwdriver and tightened the bolt that hold it on. That seemed to work but I quickly found that a minimum amount of pressure like say, attaching an iPhone, was enough to cause it to lose and start twisting again. That's where the bad design seems to come in. There doesn't seem to be a way to actually tighten the MagSafe mounting arm. I'd contact Moment support but that doesn't seem to exist. They have an email address that I contacted last week due to another issue with my order and never heard back from them. So I'm cutting my losses and going with a return so Moment and I can go our separate ways. It's a bummer as it seemed like a cool concept.

Imagine your iPhone having this beautiful halo around it for easy handling and shooting. Perfectly made and easy to use, this is what the Filmmaker Cage does. The only downside is Magsafe isn't quite enough for carefee use. I wish it also came with a beautifully designed clamp option. Have dropped my iPhone 15 Pro Max a few times (fortunately only minor dings and specks) but still, I'll keep using it because it's just a perfect solution to getting the perfect shot with my iPhone.

I am pretty surprised with how great the quality is. The size is good : not too big and not too small, and it will fit all magsafe iPhones. Also, the magnets are really strong like, a lot. Great product for an iPhone rig !

awesome, so simple

Love the MagSafe feature. The magnet is durable and we immediately went out and rigged up my phone for a shoot the following day. The cable wire slit is convenient and the two shoe mounts on top helped us out a lot. The design is simple and once again, the MagSafe feature is the biggest pro thing about this.

I LOVE this rig. It’s sturdy, reliable and is as content creators greatest tool especially for mobile shooting. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is serious about using their phone as their shooter. I work with a lot of small businesses and even podcasts and I just love how quickly the set up is and the clients love it too. Works great with my Rode wireless me mics!

What I like most about the Mobile Filmmaker cage is that it's not created for just a single type of phone. I currently have an iPhone 14, but two years from now I may have a different phone and the odds are good that this cage will still be totally functional for whatever phone I may have. I also like that it is solidly built, and the feel either on or off a tripod is excellent.

This thing is the best.
