Like any camera, phones have strengths and weaknesses. Learn what shots work best on a phone and how to make your film look pro level.

In this lesson, Moment Filmmaker Joshua Martin breaks down how to compose and frame your shots so that your mobile footage looks cinematic. You'll learn basic color theory, composition rules, and creative vs. classic shot types. Your viewers won't even know your footage came from a phone.

Great reminders

I learned how to do technical illustrations some years ago and having Joshua talk about horizon lines, vanishing points in filmmakers terms helped me connect these two areas more so. You were right Joshua, once you learn about leading lines you’ll never “unsee” them haha — keep up the great work!

This is great

Loved this. Such a great overview of basic concepts and brief, helpful examples to reinforce the points made. I'm going to show it to my kids so they can learn these concepts. Thanks for the helpful course!

Watch the Q&A

Joshua is great. The course is quite basic, but the Q&A gets into some interesting questions worth sticking around for. If it's your first time learning composition this is a must-watch, nice and succinct.
