Filmmaking 101 with Niles

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It's engaging, informative and inspiring.

I am a rubbish YouTuber who edits to the beat and even though my small user base loves this, I want to learn how to film edit and present better! Niles is a natural guide into the first steps. I understood all the lingo used and he has given me some great idea's to build on.

The indoor and outdoor scenes are great introductions for this, I would love for this to be continued into another course for say action shot's slowmotion and styles of shooting and off course being a YouTuber ! solo shooting to craft a story.

Brilliant course and not intimidating of over whelming with lingo.

Could never access class. After a week with only one reply back from customer service wanted a video showing that it did not work. Still does not work

The course has everything that a beginner is looking for.
Well structured, packed with details, and most importantly, practical examples.

It saves me hours of youtube research by combining all the essential details with an extra well-composed commentary and guide through.

Looking forward to more in-depth courses by Niles.

This was a wonderful introduction into filmmaking as Niles walk you through the making of an actual short film. From camera and lens setting, to light source, right up to editing the video, the course was as much a technical study of filmmaking as it was to familiarising you to the the mindset of a filmmaker. The course took what was an intimidating subject and deconstructed it into small manageable segments that were fun to learn and easy to understand. I highly recommend pausing between sections to apply the techniques that were being showcased before moving on in order to get a better grasp of the lesson. Although the class was only 3 hours, a lot was covered in that time. P/s. Love the cheatsheet as a handy reference point when I'm out filming.

I've been working with Niles for the last 5 years and I can tell you one thing, he knows his stuff. If you're a beginner filmmaker this is a great place to start.

Niles takes you through the start to finish process of filmmaking in this lesson. His down to earth approach of explaining some really technical aspects of camera operation and lighting concepts really shines all while still keeping the goal of a finished film in sight.

Highly recommend this for anyone looking to dive in and come out feeling inspired and ready to shoot their first film.
