Getting Started with Moment's Supertele 240mm Lens

Updated

Everything you need to know to shoot with Moment's SuperTele 240mm II lens for iPhone.

If you've ever tried to zoom in on a bird, a soccer player, or your kid's face on a stage 200 feet away, you know the pain. You pinch, you crop, you squint at a blurry mess, and you mourn the photo you wish you'd taken. Moment's new Supertele 240mm T-Series lens is here to fix exactly that problem, and it's a genuinely new kind of lens for them.

So what makes this lens different?

Every other Moment lens has been built to pair with your phone's main wide camera. The Supertele flips that script entirely. It's designed from the ground up to work with your phone's telephoto camera, unlocking a focal range that's simply been out of reach for phone photographers until now.

This means if you shoot sports, wildlife, concerts, or literally anything that's too far away to capture with real detail, this lens exists for you. Digital cropping only gets you so far before the image falls apart. This lens gives you optical reach instead, so the detail is actually there to begin with.

The numbers that matter

Moment built the Supertele with cinema-grade optical glass, which is a fancy way of saying it holds onto detail even at serious distances. You get real compression, the kind that makes distant background layers stack together and your subject pop off the scene for that cinematic look.

On an iPhone 17 Pro, here's what you're working with:

  • 240mm of true optical reach on the 4x telephoto camera
  • 480mm on the 8x telephoto camera

Just know that exact magnification varies by phone, so double check compatibility on the product page before you buy.

Will it work with your phone?

This lens is built specifically around the periscope camera system (also called a tetraprism camera), which is a fundamentally different setup than your standard wide or ultrawide lens. That's the tradeoff: the Supertele won't mount to your main or ultrawide camera, but it's tuned to work beautifully with the periscope lens found on the iPhone 16 and 17 Pro and Pro Max, along with several recent Pixel devices.

Setting it up

Installation is refreshingly simple:

  1. Grab a compatible Moment case with a drop-in lens mount, or use the universal T-Series lens mount.
  2. Slide your phone into the case, making sure the drop-in mount sits evenly so nothing protrudes.
  3. Line the Supertele up with your phone's telephoto camera.
  4. Insert and twist 90 degrees until it clicks securely into place.

That's it, you're ready to shoot.

Three tips to actually get the most out of it

1. Force your phone to use the telephoto lens. Phones love to default back to the main camera, which defeats the whole point. Use the Moment Pro App to manually select the telephoto camera so you know you're shooting through the Supertele every time.

2. Bring a tripod. At this level of magnification, even the tiniest hand shake gets amplified. A tripod is your best friend here, especially for video, where it'll keep your footage steady and your focus sharp.

3. Stack a filter if you want more control. The lens ships with a front cap (a rear cap is available separately for extra protection) and includes a 67mm filter mount, so you can drop in an ND, a CPL, or even a for a softer, dreamier look.

The Moment look, at a much longer distance

What ties this lens back to the rest of the Moment family is the character. The glass and coatings are tuned to preserve contrast while still letting natural light breathe, so images feel dimensional rather than clinical. Moment has never chased pure technical perfection; the goal has always been an intentional look, and the Supertele carries that same philosophy out to 240mm and beyond.

And like every lens in the lineup, it's backed by Moment's lifetime guarantee, so any manufacturing defects are covered.

Bottom line

If your phone photography has always hit a wall the moment your subject got too far away, the Supertele 240mm is the lens that finally moves that wall. Pair it with a tripod, the Moment Pro App, and maybe a filter or two, and you've got a genuinely long-range creative tool that fits in your pocket.
