The Only List of Fanny Packs

You’ll Ever Need

The beach is near, the mountains are calling, and that sweet, juicy sunshine is coming. Creativity will be high and budgets will be low. Cameras will be out and backpacks won’t.

Fanny packs are all part of the latest craze, man. They’re not just for your mom or dad, they’re extremely useful (and sexy) forms of carry for every person of any age or background. Whether you’re out and about at a music festival, a local hike in the mountains, or simply going grocery shopping — a fanny pack is there to save your day.

Because I’m so passionate about the coming back of waist-banded bags, I’ve compiled a short list of the fanny packs you’ll ever need to know of. From durable wear to conscious design, here are some of my favorites. Though, to note — I have not tested all of these out myself, but after doing a ton of research with friends, reading other articles, and try-on’s at the store, I know this list is to be the end-all.

Here we go.

Topo Designs x Madewell Belt Bag

By far one of the most gorgeous fanny packs on the market. This is, like, the ultimate vintage-meets-technical daypack if veteran outdoors types, Jedd Rose and Mark Hansen, decided to buy a sewing machine and design their own. Exclusively for Madewell shoppers, they designed this belt bag (read: fanny pack) in limited-edition color combos.

Patagonia Lightweight Mini 1L Hip Pack

Patagonia is on the top of everyone’s list for a reason. Instead of conjuring images of Bermuda shorts, socks with sandals, and pasty cruise-shippers, Patagonia's Lightweight Travel Mini Hip Pack makes you think of abandoned Cambodian temples, Brazilian street festivals, and cobbled Czech alleyways. It sits around your waist like a traditional fanny pack, but can also be slung comfortably over your shoulder and even packs into its own internal pocket when you have your passport, phone, wallet, and emergency snack tucked away elsewhere.

Look at how sexy that is.

Moment Fanny Sling

It’s part fanny, part sling, and 100% for creators. Think of your dad — but make it fashion.

This just might be my favorite fanny pack to date. Accompanied by a fantastic Terracotta color choice, the inner pockets made for important slips, like a Passport, throws this baby over the edge. It’s big enough to store a Canon Powershot E1, yet small enough that it doesn’t feel bulky around your waist or body. On the lighter side, its 2.0L volume is feels just right with multiple options to store what you need. The straps are easily adjustable and can fold with velcro at any point on the line. And yes, you can even stuff your phone WITH your Moment Lenses attached in its perfectly snug compartment located on the larger pocket.

Lulu Lemon Everywhere Belt 1L

This functional belt bag can hold your phone, wallet, and keys during all your urban outings. With a water resistant outside material, customers can wear it out during a light drizzle or rain shower and still look super fresh. I love the muted tones the belt comes in, it offers a wide variety of yummy pinks, greens, and dark blues.

Groove Deluxe Hip Pack

I've got a thing for small bags. That perfect, not too big not too mini size. It’s always good for taking your creative essentials (phone, lenses, filters, headphones, bubble gum) quickly on the go when you don’t want a full backpack and you don’t want to fill your pockets. Seriously don’t fill your pockets. It’s uncomfortable. Use a bumbag. Also, these come in the vibeiest (is that a word?) colors and fabrics that we’re just carrying for a limited time - get them before they’re gone.
