To Know:

The Peak Design Travel Tripod is the most portable, packable, and easy-to-setup professional tripod on the market. This is true for both the Aluminum and Carbon models, two similarly designed photography tools made with different materials. For years, traditional tripods have suffered a critical flaw: needless bulk and wasted space, the result of a spatially inefficient design. By redesigning the tripod from the ground up, Peak created the world’s most portable travel tripod—one that packs to the diameter of two 32oz Nalgenes —without sacrificing height, stability, or load capacity.

What We Love:

Peak’s Travel Tripod is radically faster to setup/takedown than traditional tripods and features more ergonomic adjustment points, built-in mobile compatibility, and thoughtful usability details at every corner. Plus, it’s incredibly strong and well crafted for any and all uses for outdoor and adventure recreation. It feels good in the hands and makes for one of the best accessories for your camera(s).

An architectural zeitgeist that has paved a new wave of design for the future of tripods. Peak Design’s gorgeous low-profile still boasts a high quality, packable tool for any travel adventure enthusiast.

With groundbreaking architecture that allows up to 20lbs (that’s enough for a full-frame DSLR and telephoto lens x4), you can put just about anything on this bad boy and feel safe and secure while shooting. The built-in mobile mount magnetically stowes in center column while all components are weather, impact-resistant, fully serviceable, cleanable, and replaceable. The Travel Tripod packs down to half the volume of traditional tripods without sacrificing height or stability. It’s ultra packable, strap it to the bottom of your bag, store it in your water bottle holder or add a strap and carry it crossbody. Don’t have a high dollar DSLR camera or forgot your SD card again? Then use your phone. A brilliantly integrated phone mount lets you capture photos with the camera in your pocket. The single, ultra-smooth omnidirectional ball head adjustment ring allows easy use with no bulky/confusing knobs.

  • Revolutionary compactness
  • Lightning-fast setup and takedown
  • Pro-level stability
  • Integrated ergonomic ball head

In Detail Between Aluminum vs. Carbon Fiber:

There are two different models of this travel tripod at different price points: an aluminum and carbon fiber. The main difference between the two, that are even worth mentioning, are the weight at stabilization effect; while the carbon fiber weighs a little less (2.81lbs compared to the 3.44lbs on the aluminium) it also produces a 20% more stabilized effect. The two are nearly identical otherwise. Both include the full-bodied tripod (legs + ball head), soft case, Standard Plate, and a mobile-friendly thread. There are no bulky, confusing knobs — just a single, ergonomic adjustment ring for smooth and simple control. Peak didn’t just make the tripod smaller, but faster. Packed to fully deployed in 9.8 seconds (that’s the office record) and makes it lookdarn good at the same time.
