Photographer Jonathan Sweet (@jontaylorsweet) was in Iceland with our latest gear. He explored for a week, testing our Case and V2 Wide Lens, and brought back some amazing shots. Here’s what he had to say about our gear.
Shooting with this lens really enhanced my ability to capture Iceland! I went into the project with a blank slate because I’ve shot extensively with the V1 lens already and wanted to give it a fair assessment. And I was so glad I did. This lens and the Case are impressive.
My first realization was a surprise. I thought that since the lens was bigger, maybe the whole system would be harder to use on the go, but I was surely mistaken. With the new slim Case, it actually was an easier experience!
When you touch it, it immediately feels like a case that is well-made — and with great materials. The grip is great, and the size fits well in your hands or pockets. As a rear pocket kind of guy. The slim profile worked out great for me.
The look is sleek. The wrist strap is not only a perfect addition for security but it’s also just an attractive feature. People kept asking me about the case and strap.
It’s definitely a case I would use for normal wear — not just photography outings.
V2 Mount Interface on Case
One major difference between this new gear and the V1 gear was the mounting experience. The fact that the lenses “click” into place now really shows the amount of time and energy that Moment puts into customer satisfaction. There’s no doubt about security — the click makes you confident the lens won’t go anywhere after being mounted on the case. And that alone gives you an even better experience with this product. It’s flawless.
The New V2 Wide Lens
My perspective was simple. I didn’t want to overcomplicate a simple yet beautiful product. First, I approached it like the old lens, but I quickly noticed that the optics are much better. Ultimately, the new, quality made for a visual experience beyond what I was expecting.
The image quality was amazingly clear and crisp. The lens captures colors in a stunning way. I felt like what I saw in front of me, I truly was able to capture in its best form. If you are looking to get a wider and crisper frame, you need this lens!
As I mentioned before, I was worried about the size difference at first, but as soon as I actually held it and used the lens, I realized it’s not different enough to affect usability. The shape is a better version of the old lens though. It gives off the feel of a professional product.
Comparing V1 and V2 Wide Lenses
From my perspective, the differences between the previous and new wide lenses were obvious. The V1 lens doesn’t feel as crisp or as great at grabbing color so well. The old lens is definitely a good lens, but I feel with this new design, mobile photography has moved to another level.
The new design elements deliver on all their promises. With no vignette on the new lens and the new design elements, you can’t go wrong! The new lens is everything you could ask for.
