One thing everyone can agree on is the appeal of a good coffee table book. They make great gifts for your creative friends, family, or even for yourself! This holiday season, treat a coffee table you know to something special.
These books are some of our favorites right now. Share this article on Facebook and tag Moment and #ShotOnMoment for a chance to win all five!
#1 – Koya Bound
Dan Rubin and Craig Mod took the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage walk in Japan earlier this year. The photos chronicle this breathtaking, spiritual journey. In their words: “After completing the walk, Dan and I hid in an old Japanese house in the middle of the Gifu Prefecture for a week. We subsided mainly on rice crackers. And burned liters of kerosene each day trying to stay warm. It was great. We used a cheap Brother laser printer to print out hundreds of our photographs. We covered the floors in them. I don’t believe you can understand a book until you’ve printed it out and put it on the floor. We walked all over the images, moved them around, and lived atop them for days. Finally, we edited them down to the fifty-seven that best told the story we wanted to tell.”
#2 – ColorATL
How about an interactive coffee table book for a great cause? The ColorATL Coloring Book consists of 45 pages of art from some of our favorite Atlanta photographers and designers. Enjoy filling in the images with your favorite set of markers, colored pencils, or even paint! And ColorATL explains the best part: “For every coloring book purchased, ColorATL will personally deliver a coloring book to someone facing hardship at one of our local, partnering health facilities and social impact organizations – Cancer centers, health and hospice homes, transitional facilities, homeless shelters, recuperative-care centers, and more.”
#3 – Monster Children 10 Year Book
This book speaks for itself, as this publication is indisputably one of our favorites at Moment. The folks at Monster Children have done an amazing job telling the stories of so many creatives and capturing both grit and beauty of current events. This book is a killer compendium of highlights from their past 40-something issues.
#4 – The Rolling Home
Who isn’t secretly — or publicly! — obsessed with “van culture”? We certainly are. For creatives who love traveling, there’s not much better than a house on wheels. That’s why we love this book put together by our friends @therollinghome about the 80,000 mile journey they’ve had in their camper van home.
#5 – Maddie on Things
Possibly the most beloved dog on Instagram (yes, we know that’s a big statement these days), Maddie the coonhound is best known for traveling with her owner Theron Humphrey across the US. Their adventures are adorably and creatively captured in the Instagram account @thiswildidea. Both owner and dog love to explore, but what Maddie seems to love most is standing on things, as you’ll see in this always-gorgeous, at times chuckle-worthy, photo book.
