Alright, guys, check this out — the Fujifilm X-T4. It's not just a camera; it's a game-changer for hybrid shooters. It nails both stills and videos like a pro. What's under the hood? It's packing a fourth-gen X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 — pretty high-tech. And get this; they've somehow managed to squeeze in a spanking new in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system, all in a compact body — talk about punching above its weight. To top it all off, this wicked new ETERNA Bleach Bypass Film Simulation mode and many more features get your creative juices flowing.

Light to hold and film or shoot, while still looking at your flip-out screen.

Getting low...

To Know:

This camera shines high end specs subtly packed into a classic looking camera body, for both photographers and filmmakers alike. The first physical aspect we took a liking to was the flip out screen that not only orientates up and down, side to side, really wherever you need it. This greatly benefits both photographers and filmmakers alike. This, so far, is the only camera we’ve been known to do this. Another incredibly unique feature to the X-T4 is Fuji’s film simulation modes, allowing users to enhance their image with film stock emulators. Some are soft and subdued, while others are bold and vibrant. Although each of these options are typically shot in JPEG mode, RAW files can be simultaneously recorded in case you need a log-profile image for post processing. Thirdly, their improved AF tracking performance actually works (what a concept). It accurately detects hyper focused fast-moving faces, eyes, or manually selected objects for both photos and videos. This changes the game for those who need fast-acting auto settings.

What We Love:

Flip-Out Screen: A screen that quite literally orientates itself to wherever you need it to be.

Better Battery Life: A long-lasting battery life for photos, including two different modes that enable more control.

The Colors: The log-profile screen grabs from video seem almost too good to be true; they boast natural colors and realistic detail. Beautiful straight out of the camera.

Hi-Tech Meets Vintage Feel: Although it looks and feels like an old-school camera, it’s impressively high-tech and shines with top-tier specs.

Auto Focus: The X-T4’s improved AF tracking performance works brilliantly, perfect for those who rely on automatic settings.

In-Body Stabilization: For it only being in-camera stabilization, Caleb and I were both surprisingly impressed by how well the image felt steady and smooth.

The do-everything camera that works for photographers and filmmakers of any level.

Fujifilm is no stranger to well-crafted cameras with a nostalgic shell; the X-T4 looks like it belongs on your grandpa’s camera shelf (which we love). The shutter is oddly quiet, so quiet that I forgot I was capturing an image — which can be super beneficial for on-the-go street scenes. Battery life has significantly improved from the X-T3 model, giving ample support for half-day or long-day photography shoots. Video, however, is a different story. Battery life decreases fairly significantly when recording, which is something to consider when having to shoot an important reel. As aforementioned above, log-profile shots are extremely valuable and hold realistic color profiles beautifully. Best part? You’re able to shoot 240FPS at 1080P, 4K at 60 FPS, and 4K at 24FPS (which is something even Sony has failed to integrate). One inconvenient negative to this camera is it doesn't have a headphone jack. Meaning, you’d have to attach a toggle in order to effectively convert and use a mic. This can be a hassle, but it’s not that big of a deal in our books.

  • Design Operability: Includes a vari-angle LCD, detachable SD slot cover, lockable eye cup, change position Q button and AEL button, and you’re able to ddd AFON with a button.
  • Image Quality: new film simulation “Eterna Bleach Bypass, new AWB “White Priority / Ambience Priority”, and more precise steps for tone settings from 1 step to 0.5 steps.
  • AWB Priority White Balance: There’s a new “White Priority / Ambience Priority” which encourage precise steps for tone settings anywhere from -2~+4.

In Detail

Battery specs are important to reiterate. Including a larger capacity, there are two different modes to take advantage of with the X-T4: 1.) Economy Mode, 600 frames and 1700 w/ grip, and 2.) Normal Mode, 600 frames and 1450 w/grip. Compared to Fuji’s previous T-series model, a new plane shutter button includes fast burst shooting, doubled durability, and a silent shutter sound. With video, there’s a fixed movie crop magnification that makes it easy to apply crop magnification to 1.29x., thus making it more simple to adjust the angle of view between movie modes.
