Peak Design Travel Tripod

To Know:

Brand new in 2020, this is the lightest, most packable, and easy-to-setup professional tripod on the market. This is true for both the Aluminum and Carbon models, two similarly designed photography tools made with different materials. For years, traditional tripods have suffered a critical flaw: needless bulk and wasted space, the result of a spatially inefficient design. By redesigning the tripod from the ground up, Peak created the world’s most portable travel tripod—one that packs to the diameter of two 32oz Nalgenes —without sacrificing height, stability, or load capacity.

What We Love:

Peak’s Travel Tripod is radically faster to setup/takedown (like a water bottle) than traditional tripods and features more ergonomic adjustment points, built-in mobile compatibility, and thoughtful usability details at every corner. Plus, it’s incredibly strong and well crafted for any and all uses for outdoor and adventure recreation. It feels good in the hands and makes for one of the best accessories for your camera(s).

To Know:

The Switchpod is super light, super packable, and hecka durable. The best 1, 2, 3. If you have ever wrestled a gorillapod before, you know that it takes a good bit of time to get it from vlogging setup, to tripod setup. The new tripod from Switchpod solves that problem, allowing you to switch from tripod to vlog grip in a matter of seconds. This makes it the go-to piece for vloggers, but also for people capturing footage while running around shooting when you still need a tripod every once in a while.

What We Love:

A lot of heart went into the production of the tripod’s design. Heartfelt intention behind any product or brand is what I most appreciate, giving an item that extra “oomph”. The makers initially tried different lightweight materials, hand grip sizes, and mechanisms for keeping the legs in place, knobs for attaching your camera, and more — but soon realized that only the best will have to do. Every detail and feature has evolved over the last year into the product they’ve originally dreamed of creating.

How We Tested:

We use tripods everyday — for both photography and filmmaking. As creatives on the constant go, we need something that is highly protected against harsh climates in various locations, but something that’s versatile for our different types of shoots. What we bring to the beach for a selfie is different than what we may need for a catalog shoot in the mountains of Norway. These tripods are beloved amongst the entire team at Moment, which is the main reason we sell them in our shop.

Mobile photographers aren't left out!
