Twitter Frenzy

This year we tried something new and did our very own Live Tweet of the Apple Event. Many of you tuned in with us, so we wanted to share a few of our favorite moments:

Catch the entire live Tweet here. It’s more fun than going back to watch the whole event.

New Devices

The flagship phone this year is the brand new iPhone X (pronounced “iPhone ten”), which makes many people wonder if Apple is trying to pull a fast one on us. Critics claim that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus should have been called iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, due to their similarities. But the 8 and 8 Plus do have a few important upgrades. So let's break down what new features you get with each device:

iPhone X

  • 5.8 size: The new device is a new size for Apple. It’s a bit skinnier than other models and slightly taller than the iPhone 8. This makes for a palm-friendly experience.

  • OLED Super Retina Display: The new display is the brightest and clearest of any iPhone ever.

  • Face ID: Unlocking your phone with your face seems strange now, but it’ll likely be the golden standard soon.

  • Powerful Camera: The flagship iPhone features a vertically oriented camera with dual 12mp lenses. The wide lens comes at the same ƒ/1.8 aperture, while the telephoto is a new ƒ/2.4. This, paired with the A11 Bionic CPU, is a great advancement for photo taking.

iPhone 8/8Plus

  • Glass Backs: The new bodies feature a durable and smudge-resistant glass back. This design supports one of the best new features, wireless charging.

  • Wireless Charging: With a new glass back, Apple can finally support industry standard Qi-based wireless charging. But you’ll still need to buy your own charging pad.

  • Image processor: While the cameras on the 8/8 Plus haven’t changed from the previous models, the new image processor got a major upgrade with the A11 Bionic CPU. This allows for some new lighting modes.

Which one should you get?

We asked you which device you planned to use, and we were surprised by the response! Most of you plan to keep your current device or upgrade to the iPhone X. If you’re still on the fence here’s our advice:

iPhone X: If the high price tag of the iPhone X doesn’t scare you off, it’s a great device upgrade! If you think Face ID and the edge to edge screen aren’t that special, you can still get a great phone with the iPhone 8/8 Plus.

7 vs. 8: If you’re already on an iPhone 7/7 Plus and don’t want the iPhone X, you may be wondering if the iPhone 8 is worth changing devices. The iPhone 7/7 Plus and iPhone 8/8 Plus aren’t extraordinarily different, but the photo improvements are noticeable. If you can upgrade, do! And the best news of all is that we confirmed that our existing cases for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus work with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. So, if you’re upgrading, you can get your case now!

We can’t wait to start shooting with the iPhone X and are currently working on a new Case (available for pre-order), and soon a new Battery Case (more info in the coming weeks). We are still waiting to get our hands on the phone to confirm optical performance, but on paper, it looks like our lenses should work. We will definitely confirm before we start fulfilling pre-orders. To receive updates, add your email below.

Having Fun

We try to not take ourselves too seriously and decided to have our own special launch event. We had a little fun with the launch of our $1, $2, and $3 cases. Yes, real cases you can buy.
