A decade of Smartphone Photography
Tonight, we ring in 2020. A new year and a new decade.
It’s crazy to think that the start of our decade, Apple was still making the iPhone 3G. Instagram wasn’t launched until fall of 2010. YouTube was still a fringe platform with a few viral videos, and 4K HD didn’t exist anywhere, let alone on the phones we now carry in our pockets.
As we look back on where we’ve been, it’s amazing to think about everyone who’s been involved in our story. From our first lens Kickstarter in 2013 to our first Moment cases, our epic Anamorphic launch and watching everyone’s amazing video submissions to MIFF, the Moment community has made the 2010s the decade of creative possibilities. All with smartphones that are more powerful than the digital cameras we were carrying in 2010. We’ve been inspired by #ShotOnMoment images that made it to Apple billboards, laughed, cried, shared iced latte's and even been invited to weddings by a number of you in the email inbox.
Whether you’ve liked, subscribed, and commented, called out a typo, sent us a picture you took with your Moment gear, or helped us push the creative envelope further than we ever thought possible, thank you. Our Moment community inspires us to make better gear for creatives and to seek out new places to travel and capture. Everyone here at Moment spends time browsing the #ShotOnMoment hashtag, watching your reviews and films shot on Moment gear, and listening to your feedback.
Here are a few of our favorite photos, videos, and reviews from the 2010s. We can’t wait to see what the 2020s bring.
