The snooze button was the worst invention of all time. You know the drill: snooze twice, finally wake up, hurry to get ready, and try to avoid the morning Subway rush. But no matter when you arrive at the station, it’ll be packed, and everyone will be stressed.

While commuting in NYC will never be the most exciting part of your day, you can at least make it more enjoyable. I do that by using my mobile camera to document my commute. Here's how I shake up my mornings:

Williamsburg

Inside the station that I commute from everyday – the station where it all began – it’s too crowded to read and too chaotic to concentrate, so I took my existing passion for New York City street photography and brought it underground. The Subway Series shows the other side of NYC that doesn’t show up in a quick Google image search - it’s a collection of everyday moments that most people miss.

Financial District

In just 15-20 minutes, my commute transports me to a drastically different neighborhood of NYC - the Financial District. The change in mood and ambiance is immediately apparent. Trench coats replace denim jackets, briefcases replace backpacks, and suit pants replace ripped jeans.

West 4th

After a long day of work, I always find myself gravitating towards Greenwich Village - the West 4th Street Station, to be specific. There’s just something about the station that transports you back to the old New York City of the 70s and 80s. Maybe it’s the vintage (and infinitely more photogenic) F trains that still run throughout the entire day and night, or maybe it’s the abundance of interesting characters constantly roaming the subway platforms.
