We’re All Wanderers: Seattle to Marfa By Van

Photos : Christian Sorensen Hansen

Literary excerpts from Jack Kerouac

Sometimes great photos require no explanation. That’s why we’ve allowed the words of professional wanderer Jack Kerouac to accompany these images by Christian Sorensen Hansen. Kerouac’s hauntingly beautiful prose captures the quiet power of Christian’s road trip from Seattle, WA to Marfa, TX.

I have lots of things to teach you now, in case we ever meet, concerning the message that was transmitted to me under a pine tree in North Carolina on a cold winter moonlit night.

It’s all like a dream.

Close your eyes, let your hands and nerve-ends drop, stop breathing for 3 seconds, listen to the silence.

You will remember the lesson you forgot, which was taught in immense milky way soft cloud, innumerable worlds long ago, and not even at all.

That which passes into everything is one thing.

I know this from staring at mountains for months on end.

It is all one vast awakened thing. I call it the golden eternity. It is perfect.
